Etiopia

Djibouti, one of the hottest places on earth. A desolate land, scorched by a pounding sun. Everything is burning hot, everything has a scorched, abandoned look. The small historic center resembles one of our Mediterranean towns. A large open-air sewer drains wastewater directly into the sea, smelling of sewer eau de fogne. Despite this, the enormous interest of several world nations in establishing themselves in the area is plain for all to see. Warships from various nations are docked at the port. The French military holds a highly respectable position; they were the pioneers with fortified bases, aircraft, and ships. The Americans arrived a few years ago but quickly acquired extensive equipment and are notable for their larger numbers of men. They almost never leave their super-equipped bases to unwind. But when they do, they are noticeable for the mess they cause. The Japanese, Spanish, and Germans are in the minority. Our troops, however, numbering approximately 80, immediately got to work. They have endless funds to stay and eat at the largest and most expensive hotel in Djibouti: the Kempinsky, a luxurious five-star establishment. Despite the crisis, we citizens pay anyway.
Update: A base has been built to house all the Italian soldiers. It's located a bit outside the city.
