I Fabbri, Les Forgerons, The Forgemen

The "maestro" hold the red-hot iron.

The apprentice continuously turns the wheel to keep the fire alive.

In Harar, at Bedel's home which is in the Badro Beri Section called "Buda" (bad eye) in Amaric, the ironsmiths work day and night. The ironsmiths are divided into three categories that could be compared to the mediaval guilds: maestro, craftsman and apprentice. The apprentice keeps the fire alive, the craftsman hammers the burning iron and the maestro gives the final shape. The maestro is the true ironsmith (wabta in Harari).
